This rulebook contains amendments to the rules of USA HOCKEY. For any ruling not addressed in this rulebook, USA HOCKEY rules apply.
LEAGUE GUIDELINES
- The CHA Adult League is a non-check league.
- The CHA Adult League is a non-USA Hockey Sanctioned League.
- The 2022 Adult Leagues will have an A, B, C, D, E and F levels of competition during the Fall/Spring season and a competitive and recreational during the summer.
- The CRIA Adult League will schedule regular season games on Monday through Thursday and Sunday nights. Times may vary, with regards to special events. All changes will be posted online at www.corridorhockey.com.
- Playoff games are subject to all days of the week.
- The CRIA Adult League will not schedule games on the following dates: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Easter or Superbowl Sunday.
LEAGUE DUES
- Only registered players are allowed to play; however, a team may have 2 non-league players each season that can sub. This player must play at the level of the team and the captain of the opposing team must be notified prior to the day of the game. The opposing captain has the right to refuse if the player's abilities are higher than that of the team for whom he/she is subbing.
- A player may receive a full refund for their registration before the start of the Spring/Summer or Fall/Winter leagues, minus a $20 administrative fee. After the start of the season a player may receive a pro-rated refund subtracting $25 per week played, minus a $20 administrative fee. This administrative fee may be waived in cases of season ending injuries. A second team will be refund minus $20/game played; a third team refunded at $15/game.
- Any player whose payment defaults (i.e. NSF check, credit card declination, etc.) will be ineligible to play in the CHA Adult League until his or her account returns to good standing. A $25.00 penalty will be issued for any returned checks.
- Students in high school (or age 14) may play in the adult league, provided their parents sign the liability waiver upon registration.
- Players requesting payment plans will not be eligible for early bird discounts but will pay the regular season fee.
ROSTER AND RELEASES
- Each team will designate a team rep/captain. Team rep duties are listed below.
- Once a game begins it will be completed until its duration, except if a team does not have enough players (5 skaters and a goalie).
- Should a game be declared a forfeit before the game begins, the teams may stay and split the ice to participate in a practice/scrimmage session. Officials will stay and supervise the scrimmage.
- Subs may sub for each team a TOTAL of three times. They are not eligible to play in playoffs. Any sub ejected from a game will lose their subbing privileges for the remainer of the season.
- Teams may have a maximum of two subs per game, for a maximum totol of ten players (if you have nine rostered players present, you may have one sub. If you have seven rostered players present, you can have two subs.)
- In the event a rostered player shows up late to a game, the sub must step down from the game immediately.
4. GOALIES
- Non-league goalies may be used in emergency situations as long as communication between team captains and league management have been notified. TEAMS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR FINDING THEIR OWN SUBSTITUTE GOALIES.
- A goalie list will be maintained and distributed to all goalies and captains prior to season start.
5. INJURIES
- Each and every player assumes all risk of injury while participating in the CHA adult leagues.
- Accident and incident forms can be found in the penalty box folder or can be located with the CRIA staff supervisor.
- All injured players must contact the CHA or CRIA Supervisor on duty.
6. UNIFORMS
- All teams must have same color jersey. Exceptions will be made for the first game of the season or if teams are waiting on jerseys with approval from league management. Lonaer jerseys are available in the office.
- All jerseys must have a number on the back. NO DUPLICATES WILL BE ALLOWED.
- Numbers will be provided by CHA and a heat press will be in operation at the first two games of each season.
7. EQUIPMENT
- All players in the CRIA Adult League must wear the following:
Helmet
Elbow pads
Shin pads
Protective cup
Hockey gloves
Hockey pants
Hockey skates
Shoulder pads (Optional but strongly recommended)
Full Shield/Cage (MANDATORY in C/D/E leagues)
Half Shield (MANDATORY in B league, full shield/cage recommended)
Mouth Guard (Optional but recommended in all leagues)
Any player without the proper equipment within their respective level of play will be asked to leave the game until the proper equipment is worn.
8. OFFICIALS
- A two-man referee system will be used for all CHA Adult league games. For E & F leagues, officials will be paid $30.00 for each game worked, $50 if working solo. For A, B, C and D leagues, officials will be paid $40 pair and $60 solo.
- All Referees will wear stripes and black pants.
- The scorekeeper is an off-ice official and may assist the referee in the declaring assists and penalties. Only Team Reps/Captains are allowed to have dialogue with them.
- Any abuse (verbal or physical) or uncooperative attitude toward any league official will cause a player to be penalized and/or suspended. CRIA Adult League will enforce all USA hockey rules regarding the abuse of officials
- The CRIA encourages, but does not require, all officials to be USA Hockey Level 1 certified.
9. GAME LENGTH
- Each game will be three 15 minute stop time periods.
- Each team is allowed one, one minute time-out per game.
- If a six-goal margin exists at any time after ten minutes are remaining in the third period, a running clock will be used for the remainder of the game.
- No time-outs are allowed during the last ten minutes if the running clock is in effect.
- There will be a five-minute warm-up prior to the game. Games will start immediately after the warmup in order to preserve the game schedule.
- There is a one minute break between periods.
- Referees will enforce a 20 second face off to keep the game moving.
- Ties will be broken with a 5 minute four-on-four, sudden death in which subs are NOT eligible to play and will be running clock. If a tie exists at the end of this period, the game score will be recorded as a tie.
- In the event of a fight, the clock will remain running until the fight has ended.
- In the event of an injury or extraordinary time-consuming delay, the officials will make a decision to run the clock on straight time for the balance of the game to attempt to maintain the ice schedule.
10. PLAY-OFFS
- The playoff format will be determined by the league management and issued to all players and Team Reps based on the number of teams in each division. Every team will play at least one playoff game and all playoff series will be single game elimination.
- In the event of a tie during playoffs, there will be a one-minute break and a five-minute sudden death overtime will commence. If the score is still tied after this five minute overtime, a 5 player shootout will occur. If the score is still tied after the shootout, it will go to a sudden death shootout. The five players who just participated in the 5-man shootout are not eligible for a 2nd shot until all players on the bench have shot.
- NO SUBS will be allowed in playoffs. NONE. Recruit more people next season.
11. MODIFICATION TO USA HOCKEY RULES
- First fight: a player receives a major penalty, automatic game misconduct and a 3-game suspension. If that player should engage in a second fight, that player will be ejected from the league. The player has the right to submit an appeal to the league management .
- A” fight” is defined as two or more players dropping their gloves and/or helmets are removed and/or physically exchanging punches/blows.
- Any player who accumulates three high sticking infractions is assessed a game misconduct.
- Any intentional contact with the goalie in an aggressive manner or after the whistle has been blown will constitute goalie interference.
- All major penalties (butt ending, slew-footing, spearing, intent to injure, contact to the head) will receive a major penalty, a three game suspension and a review by the board before being allowed to return to the ice. Players will be suspended from all rostered teams until the final game of their suspension is complete.
- A major checking from behind will receive a minimum 2 game suspension.
- Racial and sexual slurs will not be tolerated. Players will be assessed a game misconduct and be immediately removed from the game. Continued use will lead to permanent suspension.
- Any player receiving a suspension can write a formal appeal to the board within 5 days of notice of the suspension.
- Penalties will be assessed at 1.5 minutes for minor penalties; 4 and 8 minutes for major penalties.
- Any player receiving a three game suspension will be ineligible to sub for the remainder of the season.
12. CHECKLIST FOR TEAM REPRESENTATIVES
A. See to it that every team member has your phone numbers and knows how to reach you. Please instruct them to check the website.
B. Team reps are responsible for identifying subs to the scorekeeper to get their name on the scoresheet.
C. Know the CHA rules as listed in this document.
D. Check with your goalie to ensure he/she will be at the next game. Work with your rostered goalie to make sure you have a sub at your next game.
E. Maintain safety rules: stay off the ice until the gates have closed, don’t hit the scorekeeper as they walk across the ice, you know, common sense things.
F. Maintain a phone and email log to communicate weather related delays and other league updates.
G. Collect jersey numbers to ensure individual stats are correct. Contact league administrator if the game scores/stats are incorrect: please have corrections available.
