Hello Referees and Scorekeepers! Thank you for your continued support of Corridor Hockey Association. We would not be the league we are today without your participation.
SCHEDULE: this league is self-scheduling. On the 15th of each month, the following month's schedule will open at noon for you to choose your games.
(1) there is a limit to the number you may select from the 15th to the 22nd. This allows for everyone to get at least some games. After the 22nd, you may sign up for as many as you'd like.
(2) You may not ref above the league you play in. The complaints I get are about refs who can't keep up with the game - leading to missed calls and frustration for all involved.
PAYROLL is done on the 15th and the 30th/31st of the month.
(1) Checks will be available at the games immediately following that date at the rink in my office.
(2) You may BANK you paychecks and use the money towards your next season. This eliminates any possible taxes you would pay on that money. Once you have earned $600 in a calendar year, I need to report it to the IRS.
STRIPES and BLACK PANTS ARE THE UNIFORM.
(1) You can get a ref jersey online for about $60. This money can be taken off your taxes, in the event you go over the $600.
(2) If reffing is not your main source of employment, you may also take your mileage to and from the rink off of your taxes, as well as any equipment (like SKATES) you purchase that you need for this job.
Other notes:
(1) If you need to cancel and it's within 24 hours of gametime, TEXT ME before taking your name off the schedule. There is nothing worse than waking up Sunday morning to find an official has pulled their name off four games in a row and I am left scrambling.
(2) If you would like to become USA HOCKEY certified, CHA will pay for your level 1 certification. This will allow you to reffing youth tournaments. You'll need to submit your receipt after you have reffed a minimum of five games for CHA this season.
